Healthy donors of all races and ethnicities are needed, and what better place to recruit these donors than at Colleges and Universities across the United States.
Do It for Life is a national campaign where students join forces to help save lives and help raise awareness of leukemia and other blood cancers.
Through the Do It for Life campaign, DKMS hopes to recruit more than 30,000 new bone marrow donors and add them to the National Registry, giving hope to more patients.
COLLEGES and UNIVERSITIES THAT SUPPORT DKMS
New York University (NYU) established the DKMS at NYU Club in 2007, to help raise awareness and recruit bone marrow donors. To date, more than 500 donors have been recruited and more than a few thousand dollars has been raised through innovative fundraising initiatives.
For the past two years, the University of Missouri has helped DKMS recruit more than 3,000 donors, 8 of who have gone to donate and nearly 100 who have been identified as potential life-saving matches, which is so amazing!
Students can help by organizing bone marrow donor drives on campus to educate their peers about blood cancers and the importance of registering as a bone marrow donor.
